The development of efficient drug delivery systems has always been a crucial
aspect of pharmaceutical research. Among various delivery systems, mucoadhesive microspheres have gained considerable attention due to their ability to adhere to mucosal surfaces, thereby prolonging the residence time of the drug at the site of absorption. This review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the principles, formulation
techniques, and applications of mucoadhesive microspheres.
