ABSTRACT
Grahani is abode of agni and its main function is annasya grahanat (receive the food). The ancient text of Ayurveda described that ingestion, digestion, absorption and assimilation of aahara is regulated by agni in grahani ashaya. When the person consume food without following the Ahara vidhi due to laulya (greediness),then he quickly suffers from the disease devloped by vitiation of Grahani .In Ayurveda Grahani dosha is treated through shodhana and shamana therapy. IBS is a common disorder that affect the stomach and intestines and also called as gastrointestinal tract disorder. IBS is most commonly associated with abdominal pain or discomfort that is eased by faeces or with a change in stool frequency (either an increase or reduction) or a change in stool appearance at the time of beginning (to either loose or hard). The absence of red flag (alarm) symptoms such gastrointestinal bleeding, weight loss, fever, anaemia, or an abdominal mass support IBS rather than structural disease. Treatment aims to improve quality of life as well as relieve or significantly improve core symptoms. Patient education, as well as dietary and lifestyle changes, are part of the first treatment for mild to moderate IBS.
